Exploring the Eastport Community & Team Awesome 5K in The Villages, Florida

Michael and Tiffany recently spent an incredible Saturday exploring the Eastport community and participating in the Team Awesome! Awesome! Running of the Squares 5K, and they shared all the highlights.
A Perfect Day in Eastport
On Saturday, January 17, 2026, Michael and Tiffany started their adventure at the iconic Eastport sign, greeted by dozens of golf carts and residents enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. Despite recent freeze warnings, the afternoon hit a comfortable 72–73°F, perfect for outdoor activities like biking, walking, and, of course, pickleball.
The couple ran into new residents Bob and Tish from California, who shared that watching Michael and Tiffany’s videos inspired their move to The Villages. It’s clear that the community spirit here is contagious.
Team Awesome 5K: Fun, Fitness & Fellowship
The highlight of the day was the Team Awesome! Awesome! Running of the Squares 5K event at Lake Sumter Landing. The turnout was record-breaking for both The Villages and Team Awesome, with 155 participants enjoying a sunny, mild day. Michael and Tiffany emphasized that whether you walk, run, or roll, the main goal is to have fun, stay active, and connect with others.
The 5K brought together longtime residents and newcomers alike, creating opportunities to meet fellow Villagers, share stories, and celebrate personal milestones. Afterward, everyone enjoyed a meetup at a nearby recreation center, complete with breakfast and team awards.
Building Community Through Shared Experiences
Michael and Tiffany highlighted how these events foster friendship and camaraderie. From newcomers just moving in to long-time residents, everyone had a chance to participate and celebrate. Some attendees even shared that it was their first 5K ever!
But the fun didn’t stop at the 5K. Team Awesome! Awesome! hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including group cruises, bus trips to Universal Orlando, and themed meetups. For example, their next Universal After-Hours bus trip on March 6, 2026, offers unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, exclusive park access, and minimal wait times for popular rides.
